Research Institute of Economics and Management Holds Party to Celebrate the Upcoming New Year

The Research Institute of Economics and Management, RIEM, held a party on December 24, 2012, to commemorate the RIEM faculty and staff’s research and teaching achievements in 2012 as well as celebrate the upcoming new year. About 50 research faculty and staff members attended the party. Two visiting professors, Gary Charness from the University of California at Santa Barbara and Jiaxiang Zhu from Peking University, and Huimin Bian, vice president of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, also joined in the festivities. In his opening remarks, Vice President Bian praised RIEM’s academic performance and its faculty’s research achievements in 2012 in addition to expressing his hope that the institute will achieve even greater academic achievements in 2013. Dr. Li Gan, dean of RIEM, also expressed his sincere appreciation for faculty and staff members’ efforts over the past year. He also announced the winners of various research and teaching awards for 2012, including “Outstanding Research Award”; “Distinguished Teaching Award”; “Best Teacher Award”; and “Distinguished Service Award.” Winners of these awards expressed appreciation for the exceptional environment that both SUWFE and RIEM provide. RIEM will continue to conduct cutting-edge research in all branches of economics and provide meaningful research for the development of China’s economy. The institute remains committed to building an exceptional learning environment for its undergraduate and graduate students and will in its tradition of academic excellence.
