The First Workshop on Inequality and Inclusive Growth

During the past three decades or so, the GDP of the whole world doubled, however, the income inequality has also been widening continuously in both developing countries and developed countries. The new technology revolution is furthering this trends. How to create an opportunity for all segments of the population and distribute the dividends of increased prosperity fairly across society, namely how to achieve the inclusive growth, is a worldwide problem.
In January 2017, Research Institute of Economics and Management (RIEM) at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) launched theIncome Distribution and Development Policy Research Project(IDDPRP). The IDDPRP focuses on research areas of income distribution and economic development and aims to explore the topics of income inequality and income redistribution, income inequality and economic growth, etc. The project is also committed to promoting economic research, policy making, and public understanding of inequality and policy issues.
The RIEM and the Survey and Research Center for China Household Finance (CHFS) cohost a workshop on inequality and inclusive growth in Chengdu, Sichuan, China, September 8-9 (Friday and Saturday), 2017.The confirmed keynote or invited speakers include:

· Professor Yaojiang Shi (Shaanxi Normal University)
· Associate Professor Yong Wang (Peking University)
· Dr. Shenghao Zhu (National University of Singapore)
· Dr. Yi Huang (The Graduate Institute, Geneva)
· Dr. Bihong Huang (The Asian Development Bank Institute)
PAPER SUBMISSIONS
The Workshop invites scholars and Ph.D. candidates to submit papers and/or to propose organized sessions at the 2017 workshop. Individuals interested in presenting a paper at the workshop are asked to submit the full paper with an abstract of no more than 150 words, JEL code(s), and keywords toiddprp@gmail.combyJuly 28, 2017. The workshop will be conducted in both English and Chinese. Papers to be written and presented in Chinese are also welcome for submission.
REGISTRATION
Individuals will be notified via e-mail by August 6, 2017, as to whether their papers have been accepted for presentation. Presenters must confirm their attendance byAugust 13, 2017,via E-mail to be included in the final program. A detailed program will be announced by September 3, 2017.
NO REGISTRATION FEEis required for participation in this workshop.
